Deburring is removing the sharp edges of a work piece. A burr can appear after cool metal working such as cutting, punching, sawing, etc. Casting and forging can also generate edges, because metal flows between the folds of the cast iron or mould. To bevel the edge of a bore hole is also a form of deburring.
